Microneedling - Why Injure my Skin to Make it Better?

Hey loves how are you?

Today we're going to talk about microneedling. I was in the clinic with a client a couple of weeks ago explaining to her the journey we’re going to take to clear her acne scars. One of the questions she asked me was “why do I need to injure my skin to make it better, surely that is going to scar me more?” which made me think Im sure she wouldn't be the only one that thought this.

So let me explain….
In a nutshell, Microneedling is a controlled injury - sounds scary I know, but it's not. Loads of tiny little holes are punctured into the skin and they close within 24 hours. The sudden trauma to the skin immediately induces a healing response (like you know when you cut your hand and your body instantly gets to work trying to heal it - same goes. Our bodies are fantastic things right!)

Microneedling helps with the appearance and texture of your skin by minimising scars, wrinkles, marks and a few other skin conditions. The tiny holes will heal perfectly because the controlled injury was done perfectly - giving you smoother skin when healed.

After the treatment you may be a little red, this is normal. It goes down within a few hours. It is SO IMPORTANT you wear SPF everyday (YES EVEN IN WINTER) to protect you as you will be more vulnerable and sensitive to the UVA UVB rays.

I hope all makes sense, if you have any questions please feel free to email me.
