Welcome to the Boardroom: Our First Bible Study Session
SESSION ONE ROUND UP
The Boardroom Bible Collective | Session One
I just want to start by saying thank you to everyone who came to our first Boardroom Bible Collective study session. It was genuinely such a special evening.
We studied the Word.
We sipped tea and fellowshipped.
We heard testimonies.
And most importantly, the Holy Spirit moved through people to help, encourage, and support others.
And honestly darling, that’s what this space is all about.
This is a place where we learn together, sit with like minded women, and get to be fully human in front of the Lord. No performance. No pretending. Just real women, meeting God where we are.
I wanted to do a little round up so everyone can stay in the loop and those of you looking from a afar can still link with us. I want to reflect on what we covered, and continue applying it over the next two weeks. Think of this as "Notes from the Boardroom" (oooo that has a ring to it, maybe this is what our session round ups are now called - thank you God).
The Scriptures We Studied (we read from the KJV)
- Proverbs 1:7
- Proverbs 3:5–6
- Proverbs 4:23
We started with Proverbs 1:7:
“The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction.”
We talked about how fearing the Lord is not about being scared of God. It’s about reverence, respect, and obedience. If we say we follow God, why wouldn’t we want to follow His word and His ways - it only makes sense right? But not everyone sees it like that.
We’re not talking about perfection here. None of us are perfect - we are far from. We are all a work in progress. But what we are talking about is not being half hearted and not being lukewarm followers of christ. Applying what we already know. Walking it out slowly, honestly, and intentionally.
We also spoke about how different what society calls “normal” can be from what God calls righteous and godly. And that unlearning worldly thinking doesn’t happen overnight. It’s a process. But God is patient, and He’s guiding us every step of the way.
The truth is, God’s instructions are never to harm us. They are to protect us, elevate us, and lead us into prosperity of spirit, mind, and life. And when we finally get out of our own way and start listening, things really do begin to change for the better.
We then moved into Proverbs 3:5–6:
“Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.”
Trust came up again and again and this was in all of our testimonies.
God sees what we cannot see. He is omnipresent. We, as humans, only see what’s in front of us. So when God gives instruction that doesn’t make sense to us at the time, it’s because He already knows the outcome.
This is why prayer and knowing the Word matter so much. We’re not just dealing with flesh and circumstances. There is a spiritual element to life, thats what we battle against, and discernment grows the more time we spend with God.
We spoke about those moments where you know something isn’t right, but you do it anyway. That quiet nudge. That gut feeling. That hesitation. That’s often the Holy Spirit warning us before we move.
The more we learn biblical principles and apply them to our lives, the more we start recognising God’s voice. And the more people around us begin to see God through us.
We talked about asking God directly for guidance, wisdom, and confirmation, and being open to how He answers. Sometimes it’s through people. Sometimes through dreams, songs, words that jump out at us, or repeated themes.
And sometimes… you just know. And if you don’t, you ask God to make it clear. He’s faithful like that.
Finally, we explored Proverbs 4:23:
“Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.”
As women, we acknowledged something honestly - we are emotional beings (I know I am, the older I get the more I cry lol). And if we’re not careful, we can lead with our hearts instead of wisdom.
This verse isn’t telling us to ignore our hearts. It’s telling us to guard them.
If we don’t guard our hearts, they can lead us into situations that don’t serve us, don’t honour God, and ultimately cause pain and end in disaster - trust me, I've been there and i'm never going there again God willing. This is why testing the spirit, checking the fruit, thinking logically, and setting boundaries are SO important.
God never intended for us to be mugs my darlings.
We spoke about the importance of thinking pre and post - before we act, speak, or decide. Everything has a knock on effect. Even small choices can lead to big outcomes, both positive and negative.
I shared personally how ignoring God’s nudges in a past relationship led to deeper hurt because my heart was leading instead of wisdom. But I also shared this: God still closed the door. God still healed. And God still redirected me back to the path He had for me. God showed me so many lessons and this is what led to this bible study being created to be honest.
Sometimes the lesson doesn’t feel nice. Sometimes healing is a process. But God is faithful.
The question we left the room with was this:
How far along are we in truly understanding and walking in the Spirit?
Because once you see it, you can’t unsee it. And that’s where real growth begins.
Key principles we’re applying:
- Think before we act - consider the knock on effect, both pre and post
- Guard your heart as an act of obedience to Christ
- Trust God and acknowledge Him in every decision, no matter the area - work, home, the kids etc
- Apply what you already know - don’t be half hearted
- Let your reactions reflect how Jesus would respond
Take this into the next two weeks:
- Pause before decisions
- Ask God for guidance and confirmation
- Set boundaries where needed
- Protect your peace and inner life
And that’s it for this session of The Boardroom Bible Collective.
Before we meet again, I just want to leave you with something to sit with. Has there ever been a moment in your life where, looking back now, you can see you probably should have paused, thought it through, or listened to that nudge a bit more? I know I’ve had plenty.
Those moments aren’t there to shame us, they’re there to teach us. So take it to God. Ask Him what He’s showing you in this season, and where He might be inviting you to move with a bit more wisdom and intention.
If this resonates, feel free to share your thoughts in the comments. You never know who else it might help.
See you next time!
Love always
